About the Manor Arms

Broughton-in-Furness, whilst a Charter town is smaller than many a village.

The gateway to Duddon Valley, immortalised by William Wordsworth, the Charter is still read out every year in front of The Manor Arms. Here residents are warned that if they overstep the mark, the old stocks will be brought into use again!

Serving a community of writers, artists, local workers and professional business people, The Manor Arms, in the centre of the village is now also a centre for travellers and walkers eager to experience a genuinely relaxed lifestyle and this they can do at length if they wish,by extending their stay in one of our comfortable en-suite guest rooms complete with colour television, beverage making facilities and central heating. The real appeal of The Manor Arms though is the apparent step back to a more leisurely time and certainly with up to eight real ales available daily and a choice of over 150 during the course of a year that leisurely time becomes unusual “quality time.”

The Manor Arms has, since 1988, been owned and run by us, David, Christine and son Scott and, of course we are proud of our reputation for high standards in the areas of both our lovely en-suite guest rooms and bar products! With up to eight real ales in addition to three still ciders available at any one time, we are proud to be awarded CAMRA Furness pub of the year 2015, CAMRA Cumbria pub of the year 2013  and also featuring in the final 16 of the National Pub of The Year 2006!.

This award winning, family run 17th century Free House, The Manor Arms is open daily from 12 noon, closing at 11.30pm (12 midnight on Friday and Saturday). Hot and cold snacks are served until 10.00pm, tea and coffee is constantly available. In the bar we have a pool table and a pool team in addition to a selection of other activities including dominoes, cards, chess and books to keep the children happy. We look forward to welcoming you to enjoy The Manor Arms and this uniquely attractive area and remind you that, for the weary tourist not wanting to return home just yet, there are comfortable en-suite rooms accompanied the following morning by another splendid experience in the form of a Manor Arms breakfast served in the comfort of your room.
